When you join our discussion forums or when you provide us with feedback we will collect your personal data by means of a registration form on our website. Before you complete this form you will be required to read and accept our Privacy Policy.

Why and how we will use your personal data

We need a legitimate email address in order to allow you to register and use our discussion forums. We need you to register so that we can be sure you have read our Privacy Policy regarding how we collect, use and store your personal data (ie your email address and your comments in feedback or in the Discussion forums).

Your comments in Discussions Forums will be analysed and treated as research data. Your comments are valuable to this research project which seeks a wide range of views on different aspects of the issue of voting rights for Britons who live outside the UK. When these views have been analysed, they may contribute to academic research on this topic and may be referenced in publications in university journals or policy papers. No individual will ever be referred to by their pseudonym but comments submitted might be quoted verbatim to illustrate particular points of view.

Your feedback on the service our website provides will be used to help us improve it.

Sharing your information with others

We will not sell or share your personal data it with any other party. Where we link to external websites, they may collect information about your visit and any interactions. Please check the privacy policies of external websites for details about the information they may collect.

How long your information is stored

We will keep your personal data for as long as this research project continues. There is currently no end date. We keep your contact information for as long as you remain a member of our discussion forums or for as long as anything you send via our Feedback Form remains relevant to improving this web-site.

Your data and email address will be stored on the web-hosting site which uses a secure, end-to-end encryption.

Your rights
